Career Opportunity :

West Point Mill is seeking an hourly Mechanical Maintenance Technician with the ability to provide primary Welding skills with secondary skills in pipefitting and millwrighting for the West Point Mill.

What you need to succeed :

For a Class 1 Helper:

· Five years of relevant industrial experience at a journeyman welder level, or

· Two-year technical degree in mechanical or welding technology, or

· Four years’ relevant technical military experience

· Exceptional communication skills and the ability and willingness to work shift work

· Have a *Virginia Career Readiness Certificate (Bronze/Silver/Gold Level)

* For a Class A Journeyman: *

· Ten years of relevant industrial experience at a journeyman welder level, or

· Five years of relevant industrial or military experience and a two-year technical degree

· Exceptional communication skills and the ability and willingness to work shift work

· Hold certified welding qualifications from former company for SMAW, GTAW, GMAW or other relevant welding processes.

· Have a *Virginia Career Readiness Certificate (Bronze/Silver/Gold Level)

· Good understanding of the types and application of equipment lubrication

· Effective troubleshooting abilities

· Ability to read and understand equipment manuals & drawings

· Ability to properly document repairs and inspections

· Computer skills adequate to look up bill of materials, stores parts, enter work results, and complete work orders.

· Good working knowledge of rigging equipment and techniques

· Ability to measure, lay out, and fabricate repair parts.

· Ability to certify all positions for SMAW, GMAW and GTAW processes used at the WestRock mill
