About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:

Exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician at Caterpillar's Seguin Engine Facility within Texas' Industrial Power Systems Division! As a Maintenance Technician I, you'll be crucial in maintaining facilities and equipment supporting the production of Caterpillar Diesel Engines. In this position you will be assigned to various areas to meet customer and company demands, and reporting out to Section Managers.

What you will do:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on assembly equipment as per work orders and technical documentation

  • Respond to service requests and work orders with minimal supervision, ensuring uninterrupted production facility operations

  • Coordinate activities within designated areas, adhering to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards

  • Utilize CMMS-generated preventive maintenance worksheets for machinery upkeep

  • Conduct assigned preventive maintenance tasks and minor mechanical repairs under limited supervision

  • Perform general building maintenance tasks such as lamp replacement, simple construction, overhead doors, and plumbing

  • Execute basic electrical preventive maintenance with direct supervision

  • Operate and maintain production and material-handling equipment, including fork trucks, conveyors, robotic equipment, etc.

  • Lubricate equipment in line with preventive maintenance schedules, organizing lubrication equipment

  • Maintain cleanliness in maintenance shop areas and assist with Continuous Improvement cards

  • Seek guidance from senior technicians for unclear or advanced tasks

  • Strive to acquire Level II Maintenance Technician skills and knowledge.

What you will have:

  • Proficient use of safety equipment, such as harnesses, electrical safety gloves, glasses, and shields

  • Previous experience in machining and material handling

  • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout procedures and adherence to OSHA regulations

  • Facility housekeeping experience

  • Adherence to PPE guidelines and safety practices

  • Proficiency in working with hand and power tools

  • Understanding of Mechanical Theory

  • General knowledge of machinery

  • Maintaining and servicing HVAC systems

  • Experience with lubrication

  • Self-starter capabilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Exceptional ergonomic ability and lifting capability

What would make you a top candidate:

  • Hands-on experience in production facilities assembly and material-handling equipment

  • General understanding of Robotics technology and related systems where applicable

  • Familiarity with lockout/tag-out procedures

  • Proficiency with basic hand and power tools in an industrial setting

  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical theory, encompassing the construction and operation of bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors

  • Mechanical knowledge spanning basic machines (pulleys, levers, etc.), pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, reducers, bearings, lubrication theory, drive components (sheaves, sprockets, chain belts, take-ups), and equipment alignment

  • Knowledgeable in all phases of cutting and welding processes

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to perform repetitive operations

  • Ability to lift at least 20lbs. and up to 80lbs.

Additional Information:

  • $22 per hour starting payrate, plus additional 2nd shift premium

  • Monday - Thursday, 4:30pm - 3:00am
