Your Opportunity

Stantec is currently seeking an entry level Regulatory Specialist to provide technical support. This position will be part of Stantec’s Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address a variety of permitting and approval requirements. This position will include working across several business lines including our Power and Transportation groups. Our Regulatory knowledge and scientific expertise allow us to help our clients develop the most effective approach to securing project approvals.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the project team to develop permit applications (or similar documents), including gathering supporting documentation.

  • Develop technical and regulatory support for development projects in both the pre-project permitting stage and post-approval stage

  • Organize, track and distribute project related data.

  • Perform quality assurance/ quality control reviews.

  • Create technical documents and provide review of technical documents that support regulatory submissions.

  • Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation.

  • Communicate and collaborate within Environmental Services and other Business Lines to ensure consistency in project execution.

  • Participate in team and independent based work.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to use MS Office products proficiently and creatively to problem-solve and communicate.

  • AutoCAD and/or GIS experience is a bonus

  • Experience with Oracle is an asset.

  • The ideal candidate has the ability to work with initiative, professionalism and confidentiality, and is able to work independently, multi-task and adapt to change in a very dynamic environment.

  • Has demonstrated the following:

    • Attention to detail
    • Initiative in problem detection and resolution
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task between multiple project managers
    • Works well in a teaming environment

Education and Experience

The position requires a B.A./B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies or related field. Technical degree or similar experience may be acceptable.

This is an entry level position; however, relevant experience will be evaluated.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
