Newell Brands Plant Manager in Reedsburg, Wisconsin

POSITION TITLE: Plant Manager

REPORTS TO: Sr. Director, Group Operations

LOCATION: Reedsburg, WI

POSITION SUMMARY: The focus of the Plant Manager is to lead manufacturing operations at the Reedsburg WI facility through a team of functional managers and supervisors. Ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving Safety, Service, Cost, Quality and Employee Engagement.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage policy deployment in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and plant performance measures.

  • Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.

  • Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships.

  • Manage material requirements and schedules to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand.

  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and practices for cost control, waste reduction, quality, regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA), safety and complete and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.

  • Determine operations headcount needs and ensure compliance with Company policies.

  • Support negotiation of the Union bargaining agreement, administer operations within the agreement, and maintain constructive relations with the Union.

  • Identify, communicate, and drive implementation of capital investments and improvement projects.

  • Manage compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Daily supervision of a team of managers, supervisors, and administrative personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing Engineering or related field required.

  • Minimum of 7 years management experience in consumer product manufacturing, plastics manufacturing is preferred.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and multiple continuous improvement techniques required.

  • Technical skills in materials and inventory management, production scheduling, and preventive maintenance.

  • Leadership: A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.

  • Planning: Ability to think ahead and plan over a 3–12-month time span.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Excellent project and program management skills.

  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office products. SAP experience preferred.
