We are looking for a Principal Site Reliability Engineering Manager to grow a team and services focused on identity and Entra ID tenant administration, including tenant management at scale, empowering the business and protecting Microsoft. This role will draw deeply upon your experience with automation, configuration management, and security orchestration techniques embracing a site reliability engineering mindset.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, coach and develop a team of cross functional service engineers

• Foster a culture of site reliability engineering: drive automation, reduce toil, continuously measure health, learn from incidents, and build on the contributions of others

• Align identity and security deliverables with the most important business outcomes

• Work across Microsoft Security and the company to seamlessly integrate your service with partner teams; incorporate Azure product offerings and provide feedback for enrichment

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

  • OR Doctorate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.

  • 4+ years of running/supporting teams which operate Entra ID (AzureAD) tenant administration (or similar cloud-based identity and access management services end to end).

  • 7+ years technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed system.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.

  • OR Doctorate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.

  • 5+ years people management experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Troubleshooting skills are needed to be successful in this role.

  • Outstanding communications capabilities; can translate complex technical detail into clear and concise business outcomes.

  • Kusto Query Language (KQL) expertise, or equivalent largescale service data management reporting and automation experience.

Site Reliability Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
