At Splunk, an Industry Technical Strategist is a global-level expert, builder, and leader focused on the Financial Services Industry (FSI). We drive customer success and innovation in Splunk’s products, customers, and partners worldwide. The Industry Technical Strategists leverage their deep technical experiences to equip Splunk’s field technical teams with the best capabilities to drive new use cases that extend and unify the Splunk Platform. A Strategist will be creating and leading strategic initiatives that continue to position Splunk as the Unified Security and Observability Platform. A Strategist must have deep technical capability across Cloud Technologies, Microservices Architectures, Multi-cloud, Hybrid, Cloud Migrations, Cloud Workloads, Cloud Native Technologies, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, App Development, Mobile, and Edge Computing. Our team engages with customers and partners to deliver cutting-edge solutions to specific industry challenges, to influence both company direction and the industry at large. This role requires a creative, technical doer empowered to make a difference and have fun doing it!

Each Strategist will have a primary and secondary focus. Areas of focus we are hiring for include:

  • Primary Focus: Financial Services industry-specific technologies and challenges

  • Architectures for Cloud, Hybrid, Multi-Cloud, and on-premise environments

  • Splunk Getting Data In. APIs. Stream Processing. Open Telemetry.

  • Splunk Enterprise Platform sophisticated architectures and best practices.

  • UX industry best practices.

Responsibilities

As an integral part of the GTM Platform Strategy team, you will own the ideation and development of technical assets to help our field technical sellers and partners position value based solutions to lead our customers to success.

  • Partner with product, marketing, technical sales, and customer success to ideate and develop new initiatives for growth.

  • Strategize with account teams on how to best position Splunk’s Platform portfolio to achieve customer success.

  • Provide expert industry knowledge at customer executive meetings.

  • Create external facing presentations to convey the value of Splunk Platform and Cloud solutions.

  • Host an internal webinar to up-level our account teams in relevant technologies.

  • Present at an external Industry conference on a Splunk-relevant topic.

  • Contribute a blog post detailing a recent engagement or development to our external blog site.

  • Write code to integrate with relevant technologies.

  • Provide strategic guidance to our product teams and be willing to not only alert on issues, but to proactively help solve them.

  • Develop and lead deep-dive, hands-on workshops with customers that demonstrably prove Splunk’s value to their organization and help earn customer technical trust.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in Cloud, Observability, Edge, IoT, IIoT, or closely related fields.

  • Deep understanding of current technologies and trends in cloud, app development, and microservices architecture deployment methodologies.

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: Cloud Technologies, Microservices Architectures, Multi-cloud, Hybrid, Cloud Migrations, Cloud Workloads, Cloud Native Technologies, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, App Development, Mobile, and Edge Computing.

  • Previous experience as a practitioner in a specific discipline in either a research, consulting, or operations role is required.

  • Demonstrable experience delivering technology evangelism and enablement.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills with a portfolio of works to demonstrate acumen.

  • Self-motivated problem solver in highly complex environments.

  • Experience with: AWS, GCP, Azure, K8s, Puppet, Chef, Terraform or Ansible.

  • Hands-on experience in application development in at least one framework.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $181,200.00 - 249,150.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $163,080.00 - 224,235.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $144,960.00 - 199,320.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
