Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
The basic function of this position is to recruit, hire, train, evaluate, dismiss, and develop fitness services staff for University Recreation. This position will be responsible for the management of daily operations of University Recreation personal training and sport club conditioning programs, with shared responsibility of group fitness programs, Wellbeing Online content and associated hourly staff.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Business, Recreation, Sport Management, Higher Education or related field) and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area to include a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Current fitness certification in at least one of the following areas: ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NSCA or comparable.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Recreation, Health Promotion, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Business Administration or comparable or related field.
• Four or more years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience.
• Experience in the development and implementation of extensive staff training and evaluation programs.
• Experience in the development and management of budgets.
• Demonstrated experience leading group fitness and instruction classes.
• Experience in the management and operation of special events.
• Certification and/or on-going training in Strength & Conditioning or other specialty fitness programming.
• Current nationally recognized Personal Training certification.

Monthly Salary:

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
