Overall Purpose:

Duquesne Light Company is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst who will be responsible for ensuring integrity of the Company’s internal and external financial reporting information. This role requires an execution-focused, research oriented, and excellent communicator to ensure compliance with current and emerging accounting pronouncements, evaluate internal controls and assist with a variety of complex reporting functions. Reporting directly to the Manager of Reporting, this position must have pre-existing knowledge and experience with regulatory and GAAP reporting.

Location: Hybrid, downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and/or assistance with internal and external monthly reporting packages, regulatory filings, employee benefit plans, FORM 5500's, quarterly earnings release materials and bank mandated GAAP financial statements and assist with the audits associated with these reports / agencies.

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements for the Company including the drafting of financial statements, footnotes, and other disclosures in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Mentors reporting team members, reviewing their work and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.

  • Prepare financial statement flux analysis and assist with investigations of deviations and trends against budget, prior month, and prior year’s activity.

  • Prepare offering memorandums and other reports necessary for regulatory, legal, or other requirements to ensure consistency and accuracy of presentation and disclosures.

  • Responsible for researching accounting issues and assisting in the implementation of new accounting pronouncements.

  • Identify areas where process improvements are needed and provide suggestions for implementation.

  • Support ad hoc financial information requests and analyses.

  • Effectively communicate with all levels of management as well as internal and external stakeholders.Assist with special projects on an as needed basis, including but not limited to governmental reporting, industry and government surveys, and employee benefit plan reporting.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. Master’s or higher degree(s) preferred.

  • Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience required. Electric utility experience preferred.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

Skills and Abilities Utilized in this Role Include:

  • Working knowledge of Oracle or equivalent ERP system

  • Highly driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual, capable of motivating others toward change and positive improvement.

  • Proven ability to make accurate decisions and use sound judgment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate complex information in simple, concise terms that others will understand.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Scope:

Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing one’s own time and workflow but may be lading projects or project steps. Work is typically complex in nature, requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Continues to build knowledge base but has a solid foundation to act independently the majority of the time. Still draws on experts and managers when needed but less frequently. Acts as a resource to less experienced staff on routine issues.

Decision Impact:

Problems and issues faced are complex. Draws on past experience on a regular basis to solve problems and take new perspectives on existing solutions. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.

Hybrid Work:

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Storm Roles:

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.

Data Governance:

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
