Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

Position exists to provide technical, quality, procedural, and people leadership on the production

shifts. To ensure the production objective of safety of all employees, quality of the product and

maximum operating efficiency by the utilization of knowledge, training, department resources

and communications. The goal is to achieve efficient and economical manufacturing which

conforms to the established objectives and goals of the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Direct and manage the work of all hourly plant personnel on your shift for effective plant

operations.

• Responsible for the production of a quality product and the minimization of scrap on each

machine.

• Direct proper use of materials and inspect materials being used.

• Monitor production responsibilities for SPC functions

• Prepare for and monitor product changeovers.

• Compare cycle times to standards.

• Inspect systems room when maintenance personnel are absent

• Package quality bottles by verifying bottle inspections are done.

• Verify correct use of packing procedures on each line.

• Oversee and verify production labeling and reporting.

• Minimize scrap in proper utilization of packing materials.

• Verify correct operation of downstream equipment.

• Prepares or directs others to prepare carton and unit labels.

• Oversees material handling and movement procedures.

• Oversees safe operation of material handling equipment including forklift trucks and

pallet jacks.

• Minimize held-ware and verify that regrind is done properly and completely.

• Maintain and develop the workforce through training coaching and developing.

• Provides appropriate and timely feedback on performance, which includes, but is not

limited to the utilization of the annual review process.

• Ensures shift is properly staffed according to production schedule and staffing standards.

• Verifies time and attendance daily and verifies attendance on outside temporary

employees.

• Verifies operator preventive maintenance checks.

• Maintain safe work environment by verifying the use of PPE by all employees, the floor

and the area is clean and free of debris, the building security, fire exits are unblocked and

reporting and investigating all accidents and near misses immediately.

• Maintains Good Communications which includes but is not limited to notifying plant

staff when machines are down.

• Promotes Safety by following all Plant Safety rules and reports violations and unsafe

practices to appropriate Management Personnel.

• Follows GMP policy, product safety and daily cleaning.

• Must be able to follow the ISO and Quality Management Systems

• Assume other duties as assigned.

• Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active

engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe

work expectations.

• Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to

perceived, imminent safety risk.

• Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures,

and applicable laws

• Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving

prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or

safety risks.

• Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management,

General communication, Town Hall, etc.)

• Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions

accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.

• Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they

are responsible.

• Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees

understand and work toward achieving goals.

• Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent

performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.

• Must know and follow all GMP procedures.

• Must be able to work safely and follow Safety Rules and Procedures.

• Must be able to identify and respond to violations and unsafe conditions.

• Must be able to wear protective clothing as hair net, uniform, steel toe shoes, gloves,

long-sleeved shirt, and earplugs.

• Must be able to effectively respond in an Emergency Situation such as Fire, and Accident

and direct the activities of others.

• Must be able to follow all Department Procedures and Directives.

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Three years of experience as a supervisor, or college degree and one year of experience

as a supervisor.

• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work with confidential information.

• Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks

simultaneously.

• Proven ability to lead and motivate employees.

• Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

• Possess functional knowledge of maintenance and repair processes of high speed molding

machines.

• Thorough knowledge of equipment related to the extrusion and blow molding process.

• Proficient computer skills.
