The Plant Manager, will oversee all operations of the Ontario, CA Sheet Plant. The selected candidate will be responsible for interacting with both plant employees and customers to maximize productivity and profitability of the plant. The ideal candidate will be agile in establishing strong working relationships with our employees and customers while facilitating changes to strengthen interdepartmental relationships, customer service, production quality, production processes and profitability. Develop short and long term capital strategy in conjunction with the plant leadership team. The Plant Manager will work with managment to develop and implement strategic business plans that support optimal levels of production and in turn, the overall business strategy.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
* Provide high-level oversight to all aspects of daily operations to ensure operations remain on track to meet financial, production, quality, safety and environmental goals. This requires leading collaboration efforts between departments to ensure proper coordination of production, distribution and warehousing. * Monitor and enhance plant performance. This includes reviewing operation expenses and researching ways to reduce costs while maintaining optimal levels of production and quality and may also include modifying production and inventory control programs to ensure profitable plant operations. * Analyze production and resource costs to develop and execute plant manufacturing budgets as well as workforce requirements. * Develop and implement best practices and procedures in areas of safety, environment, productivity and waste that support the organization's commitment to our employees and customers. * Champion safety and quality efforts with department leads and ensure appropriate relative training activities are completed as well as motivate others to be active in these areas.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Bachelor's Degree in related field (business, industrial or engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred * 8-10 years corrugated industry experience with a minimum 5 years progressive management experience * Experience in improvement/lean tools such as: Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean preferred * Commitment to safety and environment * Ability to foster positive labor relations in a union and/or union free organization * Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate change * Strong commitment to teambuilding and a lead by example management style with the ability to motivate and coach for results * Ability to develop, analyze and maintain budgets * Strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision making skills * Strong organizational skills; ability to use discretion, prioritize, maintain attention to detail and recognize time constraints * Proficient in Microsoft Office and enterprise management systems
