About This Role

A Quality Inspection Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing inspection and surveillance activities across the Production and Test processes.

Responsibilities:

  • This position oversees individual contributors and lower-level leaders within the realms of Quality Inspection, Receiving Inspection, and Specialized NDT Inspection (PT and RT).

  • Develop a world class RT division.Oversee and improve RT processes with a focus on efficiency, compliance, communication, scheduling, record retention, and documentation.

  • Develop or attract expertise in weld inspection, inclusive of VT and PT inspection methods or Certified Weld Inspectors.Implement these individuals at key process points to eliminate traveling structural defects.

  • Evolve the Quality Inspection team talent and culture through leading by example and various improvement projects, including but not limited to:

  1. Implementing a new team seating office area to increase inner collaboration.

  2. Increasing external collaboration with Production and Test customers.

  3. Helping define and reinforce roles and responsibilities of lower-level leaders and individual contributors, alike.Develop “standard work” for these roles to limit variation.

  4. Helping to address poor behaviors, both inside the team and out.

  5. Removing difficult decisions from lower-level leaders when appropriate to ensure business continuity.

  • Prepare for accelerated line move through the following actions:

  1. Work to significantly reduce quality escapes that go undetected until later in the Production line or in Test.

  2. Work with Production leadership to resolve issues and increase collaboration.

  3. Manage staffing and certification profiles across 3 Production shifts.

  4. Collect capacity data to help justify expansion of the group at select line move rate intervals.

  • Maintain calibration control and proper documentation for mechanical and electrical test equipment.

  • Ensure maintenance of all necessary quality records and documentation in support of the group or location in accordance with the Quality Manual and specific customer requirements.

  • Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, and test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.

  • Ensure all necessary quality-reporting measures are developed and executed.Analyze outputs to identify best practices, opportunities for improvement and risk areas and ensure necessary corrective actions are taken where applicable.

  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.

  • Interface with external auditors, suppliers and customer quality representatives concerning quality assurance standards and systems are functioning effectively and that effective corrective action processes are in place when failures occur.

Qualifications

E ducation :

BS degree in Quality or Engineering or related field preferred, but not required.Significant experience in inspection related fields can be substituted for formal education.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in Quality Inspection or related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Weld Engineering or Weld Inspection background heavily preferred.

  • Results oriented inclusive of a strong sense of urgency and personal commitment.

  • Must have demonstrated technical expertise and broad expertise in complex organizations.

  • Leadership and visionary skills to drive results and persuade management on Quality priorities.

  • Ability to communicate with across the organization with both internal and external customers.

  • Ability to perform effectively within budgetary guidelines.

  • Decisive and confident, open and candid with the ability to energize others.

  • Proven experience with building strong and dependable teams.Must be willing and able to give corrective feedback to team members.

  • Possesses excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Multiple shifts are worked at this facility and may require oversite on specific shifts as discussed with leaders based on business need
