JOB SUMMARY

Pack snack food products into cartons and other shipping containers. Perform as a team for efficient changeovers.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Checks items for accurate code date, case pack, carton, carton sealing tape, identification stickers.  Establishes correct code on packages or sealing tape.  Packs correct amount of packages in the cartons in correct packing arrangement, with accuracy and speed being critical.  Total responsibility in packing, arranging, stacking, quality and coding of product.  Establishes and maintains area of cleanliness to adhere to good food manufacturing practices.  Verifies quality of product being produced.  Maintain accurate weight controls.  Must be able to work overtime as required.  Must abide by all plant rules and food safety regulations, including work, safety and sanitation rules.[]{#_Hlk135391662} Responsible for assisting teammates during changeovers to ensure efficient and effective changeovers.

DUTIES

 1.  Checks product for quality.

 2.  Removes inferior product from packing area.

 3.  Reports in timely manner to area of work assigned.

 4.  Verifies packaged items for all requirements as determined by the specifications.  Maintain 5S board.

 5.  Checks sealing tape and any other identification requirements for the product included in the Packer's assignments.

 6.  Packs product at standardized speeds.

 7.  Makes sure weights are adhered to accurately both in packaged and bulk product.

 8.  Stacks merchandise neatly and accurately on skids for disposition to the warehouse or staging area.

 9.  Opens faulty packaged product in a timely manner.

  1. Utilizes downtime in a productive manner.  Housekeeping and cleaning is a requirement.

  2. Anticipates needs of materials in order to properly utilize productive time.

  3. Performs other duties as assigned.  

  4. Perform routine cleaning task and changeover procedures as stated in changeover forms.   

     

     

     

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Packaging and processing areas producing a snack food product for human consumption.  Emphasis of job responsibilities is placed on speed, accuracy, cleanliness, and dependability.  Primary contacts will be with Area Managers, Machine Operators, Production Operators, Warehouse, Mechanics and other Packers.  Good manufacturing practices will be enforced and should provide the working environment, which will be conducive to productivity.  Must be able to work well with co-workers and supervision in a team environment.  Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. of cased product and place it on a skid.  Must have the manual skill and dexterity to move and work around heavy machinery safely throughout the plant. Must be able to work around forklifts.  Must have good basic math skills.  A high school diploma or equivalent is required.  Must be able to communicate in English clearly in both verbal and written form.  Must be able to endure hot and cold temperatures in the work environment.  Must be able to work in a loud environment. Safety shoes and earplugs are mandatory in designated areas.
