Amentum Heavy Truck Driver in Las Vegas, Nevada

Purpose and Scope:

Drive various types of trucks, such as tractor trailer combinations to transport various loads, which may include hazardous materials.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Must have the ability to operate various types of heavy equipment and forklifts and to load and unload cargo.

  • Check vehicles and equipment for correct operation and must be knowledgeable of cargo securement rules to ensure that every load is properly secured before transport.

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers and refuel vehicles as required. Perform general housekeeping and grounds maintenance of vehicle parking areas.

  • Travel as required by company.

  • Other related duties as assigned by the Lead Technician.

  • Focus on SAFETY.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 5 years’ experience transporting heavy loads on multiple types of trailers along with a safe driving record and history.

  • Load and unload trailers with straps, chains, and hooks.

  • Perform vehicle inspections, safely climb in and out of tractor cab, and maintain vehicle logs.

  • Prompt daily attendance and forklift experience preferred. ]

  • Valid Class “A” CDL Driver’s license with Hazmat endorsement.

  • Must qualify for and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Sit for extended periods of time in all types of weather while safely transporting hazardous/non-hazardous loads. Must have a willingness to work and follow directions, to

stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb ladders, lift, carry and place heavy objects (up to 100 pounds).
