**Applications are being accepted for a full time Water Treatment Plant Manager for the City of Las Vegas Utilities Department

SUMMARY This is a safety sensitive and performance-oriented position involving all phases of a drinking water treatment system. Work includes a range of tasks as they relate to the maintenance and operation of a drinking water treatment system and other assigned duties related to water treatment. This position does require the supervision of others.

NATURE OF JOB The Water Systems Manager is a highly responsible technical, administrative and managerial position who is responsible for management and planning for the ongoing reliable, efficient and cost-effective operations of the City's water utility. The position is responsible for managing the construction, maintenance and repairs to the City's water utility. The Manager coordinates and serves as a liaison with consulting engineers, contractors, developers, and other utility systems, and governmental agencies in the planning construction and maintenance of new and existing mains and lines. This position should have a strong working knowledge of various applications, regulations, enforcement of laws, and policies pertaining to the City's water utility. Oversees the operation, maintenance and expansion of the city's water system. Provides general direction to personnel responsible for performing in the areas of operation, maintenance and system expansion. Assists in the planning and preparing of budgets necessary to initiate capital projects necessary to ensure efficient consistent operation, maintenance and expansion of the water system. Plans and proposes training and educational programs, and opportunities to ensure retention of certified work crews. Ensure adherence to all applicable safety policies and standards necessary to ensure safe working conditions for work crews and the general public. Plans, organizes, schedules and directs the work of personnel engaged in the construction, maintenance, repair and operation of the raw water storage, water treatment, finished water storage and distribution and reuse distribution systems. Develops and reviews activity reports, work programs, schedules, and evaluations. Develops and oversees the departments budget and controls purchasing. QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Business Management, Organizational Management, or related field. Valid NM Driver's License, exceptional driving record and must be insurable by the City's insurance carrier. Must possess NM level IV water operator certification. Must have five (5) years experience in the construction, maintenance, and operation of water facilities, three (3) years ofwhich was as a supervisor or manager.
