Lansing Board of Water & Light Senior Network Architect in Lansing, Michigan

Salary Range: $110,500. - $137,000.

Position Summary: The Senior Network Architect will be responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining a heterogeneous on-prem / cloud environment consisting of virtual servers, components, and services. Responsible for high-level network planning, design, and optimization of a heterogeneous on-prem / cloud environment, including all aspects of cloud IT cybersecurity, supportability, and cost.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops strategies and direction for network systems solutions using current and emerging technologies (including wireless and VoIP). Translates business requirements into network or process designs.
  • Performs high-level network planning, design, and optimization of a heterogeneous on-prem / cloud environment, including all aspects of cloud IT cybersecurity, supportability, and cost.
  • Installs, configures, and manages virtual servers, components and services within the AWS and Azure cloud environments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all relevant support-related processes and procedures including, but not limited to, updating systems and application technical standards, installation notes, and support procedures.
  • Operate and maintain all integrated systems to support mission operations.
  • Plans and recommends network hardware, systems management software and architecture.
  • Monitors network performance ensures capacity planning is performed and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Performs troubleshooting procedures and designs resolution scrips.
  • May take on the role of Project Leader for special enterprise-wide assignments.
  • Defines critical network architectures and designs for the organization.
  • Ensures that all work is documented for future reference; follows quality standards; ensures effective and reliable operation.
  • Coordinates and works with the Chief Architect, Business Relationship Manager, IT Operations Manager to assist in evaluating, designing, and successfully accomplishing changes, upgrades, and new implementations.
  • Attends training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required by Manager, BWL or governmental agency such as MIOSHA.
  • Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
