Dairyland Power Cooperative IT Security Engineer in La Crosse, Wisconsin

The IT Security Engineer will be responsible for protecting Dairyland Power Cooperative's computer systems and networks from threats such as security breaches, computer viruses, and attacks from cyber-criminals. They will manage and enhance our existing security systems, develop new security strategies, perform testing and make necessary adjustments to ensure the security of our systems.

The Impact You’ll Make i n This Role:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan, design, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and information.

  • Implement security controls to protect an organization’s infrastructure, computer system, and digital files.

  • Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cyber security designs.

  • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.

  • Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.

  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.

  • Conduct periodic network scans to find any vulnerability.

  • Conduct internal and external security audits.

  • Analyze security breaches to identify the root cause.

  • Maintain relevant skills through training opportunity and industry meetings

  • Provide Cybersecurity job functions in support of DPC members or others entities where DPC commits to providing cybersecurity services.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Your Experience and Expertise:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, engineering or related field with 3 years’ experience with cybersecurity, system administration and network administration in a mixed technology environment. Cybersecurity regulatory compliance experience is preferred (ex. NERC CIP Standards)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Prefer cybersecurity related certifications such as CISSP or GSEC

  • An understanding of best practices and how to implement them at a business-wide level

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems as they arise

  • Basic scripting or coding skills is desirable

  • Ability to prioritize projects, assignments and support activity

  • Excellent communication skills
