The Shared Services (SSC) Center is a multifaceted center that provides transactional support and processing, travel related support and processing, financial management, payroll support, and institutional support services across multiple and varied funding sources. The SSC is comprised of three functional areas: Procure-to-Pay, Travel and Training, and Financial Management and Reporting.


What you will do:

As a member of the Shared Services Center (SSC) you will be part of a team-focused, fast-paced, demanding, and continuously evolving environment. The Financial Services Associate (FSA) in Credit Card Programs will support the university's credit card program for both procurement cards and travel & meal cards. The FSA will utilize the issuing bank's secure system to create and maintain individual cardholder accounts, grant system access, and provide cardholder support. The FSA will also become the subject matter expert in the systems used to process credit card transactions, including US Bank Access online, Next Gen, Perceptive Content, and Kuali Financial System, and provide analysis and reporting related to credit card usage. This position is also responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the daily transaction files received from the issuing bank. It will be necessary to thoroughly understand and interpret university policy and determine the appropriate payment method. Development and delivery of training for cardholders and shared services center staff is an important part of this job. Developing and maintaining valuable and productive relationships, communicating effectively, and working closely with others to provide exceptional customer service to cardholders and unit administrators across the university.


This position is in Credit Card Programs and will report directly to Kathy Sheils.


Required qualifications for the position include:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with at least 3 years of accounting or financial experience or equivalent combination.
  • Ability to work in a complex, high demand environment with experience prioritizing multiple deliverables, where change in process/procedures is the norm and take direction from more than one individual.
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills (written/verbal) with a broad range of people to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, analytical, time management, problem-solving, sound judgement, and organizational skills are critical in managing a high volume of transactions and communications that are urgent or of a sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, customer-oriented, team-based work environment while effectively organizing, planning, and prioritizing multiple competing work activities under pressure.
  • Possess a positive attitude and professionalism.
  • Experience in collaborative use of computer applications in Microsoft Office, OneNote, Visio, Box, SharePoint, Zoom, Teams.
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation in a shared, cloud-based environment.

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • BS/BA in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Understanding of Cornell policies and procedures in the areas of purchasing, business expense, accounting general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and travel preferred.
  • Kuali Financial System (KFS), Oracle Analytics dashboard, Workday, PaymentWorks, Web eInvoicing, Spend Viz, Team Dynamix, Peoplesoft, and Concur Travel system, experience, and knowledge, transaction systems and reporting tools helpful.
