Job Description:

TheUF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program (FNP) (https://familynutritionprogram.org/) is seeking an evaluation scientist with strong study design, data collection, and analytical research skills in quantitative and survey research to guide evaluation of SNAP-Education activities in Florida. The Evaluation & Data Coordinator will assess statewide needs and determine evaluation priorities for a multi-million-dollar federal grant. They lead a team and coordinate efforts to enhance implementation and expand the evidence-base for SNAP-Ed. Join us to create a healthier Florida!

About SNAP-Ed and FNP

SNAP-Ed (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education) is a federally funded grant program that teaches people how to eat healthy on a budget and be more physically active to reduce the risk of obesity and chronic disease.

• FNP has been providing SNAP-Ed in Florida since 1996

• Funding comes from the USDA through the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF)

• Our programming is focused on youth from pre-k through high school, where 50% or more students receive free or reduced meals or are otherwise considered eligible

• We teach nutrition education classes where people normally gather, such as schools, community centers, libraries and churches

• We work to impact policies, systems and environments to support healthy changes in our communities

  About the Opportunity

You will serve as lead evaluation scientist for a statewide nutrition and obesity-prevention program, measuring the impact of SNAP-Ed in Florida.

In this role, you can expect to:

• Provide leadership for evaluation projects that assess short, medium and long-term behavior change, as well as program impact

• Support capacity for high-quality data collection through development of trainings and instructional materials

• Manage and lead a small team. Recruit, train, support, engage and coach.

• Represent FNP in regional or national evaluation workgroups

• Serve as an administrator for the FNP and national data management system (PEARS and N-PEARS), and serve on the multi-state PEARS Advisory Committee

• Develop annual management plan and annual operating budget for the Evaluation/Data team

• Coordinate the preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports

• Serve as PI-proxy for all IRB protocols and submit revisions and new protocols as needed

• Travel to counties as needed to collect data, meet with stakeholders, observe programmatic implementation and evaluation, train or meet with staff, attend conferences and trainings

Additional Details

This is a time-limited, grant-funded position.

The FNP state office is located at UF’s East Campus on Waldo Road in Gainesville, FL. The position has flexibility to work primarily remote but must be able to periodically attend in-person meetings as directed by supervisor. It is preferred that candidate is local to North Central Florida. Collaboration with supervisor, as well as with direct reports, would primarily be remote.

Expected Salary:

$66,000+ and benefits package

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in public health, evaluation science, statistics or related field

• Two or more years of supervisory experience in program planning and evaluation

• Experience with grant-funded programs and/or working with government agencies

• Proven success managing projects and overseeing the timely completion of work plans and reports

• Proficiency working with quantitative and qualitative data, including use of statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, and/or R

• Experience developing and maintaining surveys in Qualtrics software

• Experience training individuals or teams

• Comfortable with public speaking, presenting formal and informal presentations
