BWC Terminals Operations Management Trainee in Houston, Texas

PURPOSE
Responsible for learning the full scope requirements of terminal operations management. Candidate will be trained in Staff management, customer interaction, productivity, and safety of the Terminal.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Below is a list of essential duties of this position. NOTE: Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Learn to supervises and coordinates the activities of the terminal staff, including time off requests. Assist with staff recruitment, performance management, and discipline. Ensures staff is trained per HSE, operational and company-wide policies and procedures. Learn to observe and makes recommendations regarding the efficiency of the Terminal’s processes. Learn to assist with developing, implementing and managing mandatory regulatory records. Assists with ensuring that all record keeping is in compliance with regulations and laws. Learn to oversee with the management teamthe Preventative Maintenance (PM) program for terminal operating equipment. Ensures that equipment is repaired and maintained. Learn to assist the regional HSES representative in developing, implementing and enforcing company policies and procedures to promote and ensure a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Learn to work with Human Resources and assists the TM to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and/or bargaining unit contracts as well as local, state and federal laws. Coordinates activities with Human Resources to ensure that recruitment, retention, employee relations, performance management, and other human resource issues are effectively and efficiently carried out. Learn to work with the TM to define scope, cost estimates and goals of projects. Per the direction of the TM, manages certain pieces of the projects, including budget monitoring, vendor/contractor managing, specs monitoring, and compliance issues. Train on how to ensure the facility is adhering to all operational procedures and policies. Assists the management team in managing and monitoring inventories and resolving discrepancies. Assists the TM in conducting workplace audits and inspections. Interacts and communicates with staff and co-workers in a professional and appropriate manner and responds to and gives feedback in a respectful and positive manner. Takes the initiative to identify problems, uses judgment to find appropriate solutions and follows through on resolving issues in a timely manner. Supports team efforts, actively works to generate respect and enthusiasm, cooperates with others, and actively learns from other team members. Reports to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position and willing to perform the duties as workload necessitates.

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Associates Degree or Higher preferred
Knowledge of and skill in operating equipment
Ability to use hand/power tools
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents (regulations, policies, reports, bids, etc.), blueprints, drawings
Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures
Ability to effectively present information, communicate with, and respond to questions and complaints from staff, co-workers, management, and customers
Ability to wear safety equipment, including safety shoes, goggles, gloves and similar equipment
Ability to use basic math skills, calculate formulas, and understand tank capacities/volumes/ and percentages
Proficient in Microsoft Office software and ability to learn and use specific Westway software
Experience and ability in working with and evaluating contractors and subcontractors and similar vendors
Customer service focus
Ability to interact with others in a professional and appropriate demeanor, work effectively with a diverse group of individuals and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to make decisions and work independently with general direction from supervisor
Capable of reporting to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position and willingness to perform duties as workload necessitates
