Michigan Tech Enterprise Corporation SmartZone Development & Marketing Manager in Houghton, Michigan

The Michigan Tech Enterprise Corporation SmartZone (MTECSZ) seeks an experienced Development & Marketing Manager *to join their team in *Houghton, Michigan. This position will collaborate extensively with the MTECSZ team, local and regional universities, business leaders, and economic development groups.

The Development & Marketing Manager plays a pivotal part in driving brand promotion and cultivating funding opportunities for both the MTECSZ and its clients. Do you possess the collaborative spirit required to identify and actively pursue funding sources at local, state, and federal levels, in addition to corporate and private foundations? Are your impeccable organizational skills capable of shepherding the grant application process seamlessly from pre-award to post-award stages? WHAT WE OFFER.

  • $55,000 -- $85,000 annually based on the knowledge and experience you bring to the position.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' work experience in a not-for-profit development/administrative position preferred.
  • Track record of success in identifying, applying to, and administering grants preferred.
  • Ability to lead the granting process from pre-award to post-award (prospecting, research, writing, submitting, administration, recordkeeping).
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders (MTECSZ team and clients, Michigan Technological University, City of Hancock, City of Houghton, Gogebic Community College, KEDA, Portage Health Foundation, WUPPDR, InvestUP, and other regional economic development organizations.
  • Ability to communicate, present, and distill information effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to direct and execute marketing/communication initiatives related to grants and MTECSZ activities including creating written deliverables such as press releases, messaging, and media statements.
  • Create graphic assets using software, or with assistance from external resources as needed.
  • Create and elevate social media presence.
  • Support MTECSZ events (in-person and virtual) through promotion, coordination, setup, teardown, post-analysis, and reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to use various software applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and keep a keen eye on details.
  • Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
  • Valid driver's license and occasional travel required to attend meetings, seminars, conferences, etc.
