Thompson Machinery Commerce Corporation Rental General Mechanic in Greenwood, Mississippi

This is a job for a Rental General Mechanic position with the company located in the Greenwood, MS area.

Job Summary: The Rental General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician position is responsible for diagnosing, servicing and repair, and preparation of rental equipment including Caterpillar, JLG and Genie scissor and boom lifts.  This is a skilled technician position working largely independently with guidance from supervisors or service mentors.  This individual will report to the Rental Store Manager, and serve customers located in the Rental Store. 

Responsibilities: The Rental General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician should be able to read and interpret technical instruction, service and safety manuals, company policies and procedures.  Works with mechanical, hydraulic, and electric/electronic schematics and wiring diagrams; and demonstrates proficiency in the use of test equipment.  The position is responsible for high quality repair service on rental equipment and engines, responding to customer needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner, and ensuring maximum value for work is performed.

Know and follow all Company and customer safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, fully participating in Company accident prevention and safety improvement activities. Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective glasses, protective gloves, and protective clothing and footwear as required by the job. Respond to all customer requests in a professional and courteous, timely and responsive manner. Maintain a clean, professional personal appearance always, meeting all Company standards for professionalism. Keep the Manager continually apprised to assist in answering customer questions and problems when necessary. 

Qualifications:

Heavy background experience in the repair of electrical equipment, electrical circuits, plumbing, phone, and data line. Must have training, EPA certifications or licenses as needed for the above. Technician must be able to perform all levels (1 -- 4) of accountabilities up to and including Level 5. The incumbent is thoroughly trained and has the background and experience to make repairs to this highly specialized equipment thereby saving the company vast sums of money and down time which would be expended if a service representative from the factory was required to make repairs. The incumbent must furnish qualifications such as certificates, registrations, licenses, or diploma from an approved school. Must have valid driver's license.
