WestRock Company Supervisor - Fiber/Utilities in Florence, South Carolina
The opportunity:
The Production Supervisor for the Fiber and Utilities areas has primary responsibility for managing the safety, reliability, cost, quality, productivity, and employee engagement in a goal-oriented environment. They also have a secondary responsibility to effectively communicate with the Paper Department Shift Supervisors to ensure effective 24/7 operations of the Florence Mill.

Administers and model’s safety in his/her area of responsibility; Participates in and supports the safety programs for the Mill; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA and mill safety rules.

Ensures compliance with all environmental rules and policies
Improve efficiency of the Pulp and Power operations by analyzing the processes utilizing all available tools and technologies
Manage production rates and inventories to meet our customers’ needs
Exceed and continuously improve on our area downtime goals
Troubleshoot quality and operational issues and develops systems and structures to avoid reoccurrences
Manage internal product quality and look for ways to reduce variability
Plan and execute preparations for maintenance outages for timely use of maintenance resources
Develop area employees through training and expectation setting
Support safe and effective operation of the Fiber and Utility areas by observing, communicating, and coaching crews on standards, process structures, and practices.
Ensure all production and employee reporting is completed timely and accurately for each shift
Maintain housekeeping excellence
Monitors environmental, quality, and operating data
Coordinates maintenance activities with operations
Monitors the efficiency and effectiveness of Pulp, Recycle and Woodyard operations.
Communicates and documents daily operational issues
Identifies shift weaknesses and develops improvement plans
Communicates and coordinates with other areas of the mill
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree is preferred
5-10 years of experience in Pulp and Paper industry is preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Engineering or Paper Science degree preferred
Process Engineering experience a plus
Computer working knowledge such as Microsoft Office Suite, PI Processbook, Parcview, JD Edwards, etc.
