Staff Engineer, Electrical Engineering

Position Responsibilities

Candidate will be responsible for development, integration and maintenance of industrial control components and systems used in passenger elevator applications. Areas of focus include control system feature expansion to satisfy marketing requirements, develop innovative solutions to challenging customer applications, upgrade products to enable compliance with industry safety codes, and reduction of manufacturing, installation, and service costs. Candidate will draw upon advanced level of previous experience to perform team leadership functions and will work to mentor and guide development of more junior engineers.

Candidate Experience / Skills / Education

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and guide the development of more junior engineers and new employees.

  • Build team morale through example and team member development.

  • Take ownership of agreed-upon commitments for project/product cost, schedule, and product requirements compliance.

  • Bring significant history of team leadership experience.

  • Possess strong project planning and resource management skills.

  • Effectively delegate and monitor progress of team member work assignments.

Coordination / Communication

  • Possess interpersonal skills for effective interaction across organizational boundaries (leadership, internal/external customers, suppliers, other teams and disciplines, manufacturing, field personnel).

  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills (English/Spanish a plus).

  • Experienced in working with suppliers, certifying agencies (CSA, UL) and jurisdictional authorities (TSSA).

  • Experienced in conflict resolution and effective negotiation.

Technical & Product

  • Sound electrical engineering background (wiring diagrams, systems analysis, motor and control applications, control logic, power components, power distribution and protection).

  • Knowledge of all phases of product development and implementation processes.

  • Complex problem analysis skills for root cause identification.

  • Experience with elevator control system development.

  • Development for compliance to safety codes and standards (ASME, NFPA).

  • Basic understanding of mechanical and software technologies.

  • Experience with development and manufacture of PCB assemblies.

  • Experience in video and display technologies.

  • Hands on experience with broad range of test and measurement equipment.

  • Experience with tools including or similar to Allegro PCB, PSpice, Zuken E3, AutoCAD, MS Office.

Education Requirements

  • BS Degree in electrical engineering with 7+ years’ experience.

  • MA/MS degree preferable.
