PeaceHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician :

  • Full Time, 1.0 FTE

  • Day shift position (1040)

  • The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $21.26 – $34.04.

The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the coordination, assembly and distribution of supplies, equipment and instruments for surgical cases.

  • Re-stocking inventory.

  • Cleaning, decontaminating, disassembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies.

  • Operate a variety of sterilization equipment.

  • Clean and maintain department equipment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma preferred or equivalent.

Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) months’ experience as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred or three (3) month’s experience in other medical related role.

  • Active enrollment (within 90 days of hire date) in educational program/training for National Central Services Technician Course to obtain certification requirements within one year. Provide proof of enrollment, course progress or completion required.

Credentials

  • Required within 1 Year: National Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification from IAHCSMM, CBSPD or other nationally recognized certifying body.

  • Required within 1 Year: CER Certified Endoscope Reprocessor if working in PHMG (Peace Health Medical Group)

Skills

  • Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)

  • Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications. (Required)

Department / Location Specific Notes

Peace Harbor Medical Center - Florence:

  • A minimum of three (3) months’ experience as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred or three (3) month’s experience in other medical related role.

  • Active enrollment (within 90 days of hire date) in educational program/training for National Central Services Technician Course to obtain certification requirements within one year. Provide proof of enrollment, course progress or completion required.

  • Must be able to manage conflict effectively and professionally.

  • Excellent time management skills with an emphasis on meeting time sensitive deadlines.

  • Good customer service skills and good interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently.

  • Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 25 lbs.

  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 10 lbs. force.

  • Reaching frequently.

  • Squat/ kneel occasionally.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
