Melling Quality Manager in Farwell, Michigan

Experienced Quality Manager with 5 years IAFT and ISO experience.

SUMMARY  Plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance program designed to ensure consistent production, continuous improvement of products and processes that meet or exceed customer requirements by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain a quality system that assures Melling products are world class in terms of quality
  • Maintain an environment of continuous improvement for Melling products and processes
  • Works with Advanced Product Quality Planning Teams (APQP) to develop and analyze product specifications to determine requirements and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product, and verify process capability
  • Maintains a working knowledge of industry quality codes and standards.  
  • Plans and oversees the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component
  • Coordinates, performs, and maintains records of calibration activities.  Provides necessary training for other personnel to carry out gage calibration
  • Coordinates and documents the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Responsible for development, documenting, and maintaining all procedures and work instructions for the department
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes
  • Evaluates product quality to determine whether to accept a product and/or continue business with a vendor based on product quality
  • Reviews and reports on the performance and effectiveness of quality assurance monthly, quarterly, and annually including but not limited to Management Review, Town Halls, Staff meeting, ect.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities
  • Provides analysis and feedback information on all pertinent quality issues to management
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products
  • Maintains a working knowledge of industry quality codes and standards
  • Plays active role on quality management teams within organization
  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training programs related product quality
  • Investigates and coordinates all activities related to customer quality complaints including oral and written correspondence with customers. Maintains and updates corrective action/counter measure logs.
  • Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures
  • Knowledgeable of and supports Human Resource, Quality and Safety/Environmental policies & practices.  Strives for continuous improvement in their area of expertise and job function that results in better cost, quality, or functionality of the products we deliver to our customers

LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages subordinate supervisor(s) who supervise several employees in the Quality Department, Receiving and Inspection, CMM operators, and quality management system. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Additionally may supervise other non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
