Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning - Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize the shipping and receiving processes, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and transportation logistics.
• Supervision and Leadership - Lead a team of shipping and receiving personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective performance and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Inventory Management - Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, monitor stock levels, and coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure timely replenishment of stock and minimize stockouts.
• Shipping Coordination - Coordinate outbound shipments, including selecting carriers, negotiating freight rates, scheduling pickups, and ensuring timely delivery of goods to customers while minimizing shipping costs.
• Receiving Operations - Oversee the receiving process, including unloading incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders, inspecting goods for damage or defects, and accurately recording receipts in the inventory management system.
• Safety and Compliance - Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies related to shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations. Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction within the shipping and receiving department. Implement best practices and efficiency measures to optimize workflow and increase productivity.
• Vendor Management - Build and maintain relationships with shipping carriers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and other external partners to ensure reliable and cost-effective transportation and logistics services.
• Reporting and Analysis - Generate reports and analyze key performance metrics related to shipping and receiving operations, such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and shipping costs. Use data insights to identify trends, address issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Experience with shipping/receiving of flat bed trucks.
• Proven experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve goals and objectives.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
• Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite. AFC Steel uses Tekla EPM. Experience with Tekla EPM is preferred.
• Knowledge of shipping rules and regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and implement process improvements.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in all operations.
