Starting Salary:\$17.59\$19.25 per hour(depending on experience)

About this Position

The Administrative Specialist IIDetective Division provides confidential work with general clerical services, administrative support, and related duties specific to the department under an assigned supervisor. Within their scope of responsibility as one of the city\'s Police jobs, the Administrative Specialist II position requires independent judgment, initiative, and discretion based on knowledge of applicable administrative policies and procedures while performing daily activities.

This position will operate on a daily schedule of 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday, with a half day on Friday (7:30 am to 11:30 am).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Major with daily administrative duties
  • Distribute the division mail and/or correspondence to the appropriate destination
  • Update the division personnel calendars for appointments, conferences, subpoena notifications, training, and school events
  • Transcribe interviews and other recordings
  • Transcribe confidential and sensitive police department information
  • Research and assemble a variety of data from databases or other sources
  • Assist with projects and/or programs as assigned
  • Answer phone calls and screen/route calls as needed
  • Correlate reports with calls coming in from media releases
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and order supplies
  • Coordinate the sex offender notices
  • Review and enter pawn tickets

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 12-18 months of related experience and/or training
    • Orequivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver\'s License and a driving record acceptable to the City\'s insurance carrier

Necessary Skills

  • Excellent communication skills to occasionally deal with individuals that are upset over a particular situation

  • Ability to actively listen, show compassion, and take accurate notes

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information

  • Willingness to work in an environment with exposure to crude language, horrendous information, and/or graphic pictures

  • Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position

  • Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
