Position Summary

Assists with Sales administrative work to support the sales efforts of Team Kellogg; supervises part-time team members; books meetings, banquets, and events for the Kellogg Center as needed and sends contracts and confirmations to clients; works with clients to plan meeting and banquet event room details, food & beverage menus, audio-visual needs, guestroom block updates, and other related services to provide an outstanding guest experience; assists in planning and developing sales promotional materials and sales blitz’s for Kellogg Center to gain new clients and increase sales; prepares special and detailed reports as needed for the Director of Sales; assists in administering client contracts.

All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school such as an Associate’s Degree in Business with coursework in Hospitality Business, Sales, ore related field; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in sales and marketing strategies related to hotel or catering operations; booking meetings, events and/or similar unit functions; and department operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with Opera, Delphi Diagrams, Meeting Matrix, Word, Excel; experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, LGBTQIA+, and gender backgrounds.
