CBR Test Lab Technician - Third Shift

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Tests functional performance of circuit breakers, including electrical and mechanical functions, leak tests, high voltage tests, and visual and dimensional inspections.

  • Performs mechanical adjustment operations on circuit breaker components, linkages, and operating mechanisms.

  • Compares results with specifications, records test data, and prints test results.

  • Performs electrical trouble-shooting and minor repairs, including the replacing of defective wiring and electrical components, and mechanical repairs. Frequently required to support production during repair procedures.

  • Analyzes test results on defective units and reports on nonconforming products.

  • Confers with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems.

  • Reviews test reports from other test technicians and maintains the test reports files.

  • Calibrates test instruments according to specifications.

  • Performs maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical test equipment, gas handling equipment, and test facilities.

  • Ensures the product will meet customer requirement in regards for finished goods.

  • Documents work performed by filling out proper forms.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Cleans work area at the end of each shift.

  • Ability to work night shift and overtime as needed. THIS IS A THIRD SHIFT POSITION HOURS ARE 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM OR SIMILAR

Educational Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent

  • Minimum of 1 year related experience in quality control testing or electrical panel wiring.

  • Ability and willingness to work 3rd shift, 10:00pm to 6:30am or similar

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as IEEE and IEC test standards, inspection and test procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and interpret documents such as IEEE and IEC circuit breaker and test standards, inspection and test procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to speak effectively, write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from management, customers, test equipment suppliers, or employees of the organization.

  • Ability to effectively present information to customers and management.

  • Ability to understand test procedures and requirements and explain them to customers.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions and to apply them to practical situations.

  • Knowledge of fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.

  • Knowledge of electricity and electrical circuits.

  • These mathematical skills are required to perform testing functions.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.

  • These abilities are necessary in the process of troubleshooting products and equipment, and in supervising and coaching employees in the department.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents (including mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, technical specifications, and electrical wiring drawings).

  • Knowledge of measuring tools and techniques, and metric and American unit systems.

  • Basic knowledge of materials (steel, alloys, aluminum, copper, porcelain, polymers).

  • Must be articulate and professional, with good interpersonal skills because of frequent customer witness tests in the test lab.
