Position Details

General Statement

The Academic and Logistics Program Manager is responsible for developing, managing and implementing key aspects of the Morrill Scholars Program related to Morrill Scholar enrollment, registration, Faculty Fellow enrollment and persistence at MSU . The Program Manager will engage with a cross-disciplinary and functional team to conceive, design, and develop innovative strategies and solutions. The successful candidate will combine an ability to “think big” with the ability to “move quick.”

The Morrill Scholar Academic and Logistics Program Manager will work to convey compassion and support along-side high expectations. This work will be accomplished through one-on-one coaching appointments, small groups, and large group meetings. We are looking for a passionate, data-driven decision maker who likes experimenting, setting high standards, and staying ahead of a dynamic and complex problems to find solutions. The Morrill Scholar Academic and Logistics Program Manager is a member of a team that is focused on driving outcomes to improve persistence, graduation rates and career outcomes for MSU Morrill Scholars.

Duties and Responsibilities

At the direction of and working in conjunction with the Vice Provost provide quality, timely, and relevant logistics management support for the Morrill Scholars Program to generate high quality and high impact outcomes for students and the institution.

Work closely with other Morrill Scholar Professional and para-professional staff in achievement of these goals:

  • Partner closely with other AYCCSS and campus partners in achievement of these goals.

  • Manage the academic, enrollment and appropriate case management models for the first two years of the Morrill Scholars Program.

  • Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Registration template development

  • Registration metrics

  • Student Early Alert Case Management outcomes tracking

  • Student tutoring and flow-zone outcomes tracking

  • Student engagement tracking

  • Student use of services to provide momentum-advantage

  • Base upon student outcomes provide recommendation ideas and action steps to Vice Provost.

  • Generate momentum on recommendations through coordinating (and in some cases) executing treatments/interventions.

  • Work closely with the AYCSS Systems Manager to monitor data (gaps and gains) and make recommendation to the Vice Provost for time program enhancements/efforts.

  • Leverage BCSSE , Quintile, EFC (Student Affordability Index), first-to-college and other data to inform strategy.

  • By leveraging data, identify, drive, and develop best practices, efficiencies, and project workflows in support of scholar success outcomes.

  • Hire, train, and supervisor the Morrill Scholars Program mentors.

  • Work in conjunction/partnership with other access scholarship programs in the AYCSS to leverage continuous professional development training of mentors and student associates.

  • Work closely with Morrill Curricular & Scholar Success Program Manager.

  • Plan and coordinate learning, development, and engagement events which generate a sense of community, purpose, and belonging for the Scholars.

  • Work closely with the Morrill Mentors to have them host events (with impact) in the evening.

  • Work closely with ChampChange Program Manager to incentivize activity and monitor the event.

  • Generate marketing material and content for webpages, emails, texts, and other channels of communication.

  • Messaging must be clear, accurate, timely, and relevant to an audience.

  • Messaging must include images and content that connects with target audience.

  • Messaging must follow AYCSS’s IKAB model and generate new habits and practices of the scholars. Our goal is to move scholars to action!

  • Leverage tools like CMS , Excel, CatTracks, MyEmma, Mongoose, and Karatemail.

  • Work collaboratively with the AYCSS Associate Director of Communication

  • Market Great Course, Faculty Fellow courses, and other large-scale communication effort.

  • Send and monitor outcomes from weekly success messages for the Morrill Scholars.

  • Work closely with academic advising, math, registrar and other partners to generate good registration outcomes.

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, and balance program needs with technical constraints.

  • Ensure scholars attend class, engage in their coursework and maintain satisfactory academic outcomes.

  • As appropriate, coordinate with Faculty Fellows and key enrollment partners on enrollment, special events and student outcomes.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in program development, management, implementation and delivery assessment.

  • Demonstrated competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email and internet.

  • Demonstrated experience of strong data analysis, problem-solving, and project management skills where data and metrics were utilized to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.

  • Demonstrated experience communicating (oral and written) to constituents with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Demonstrated experience of working in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation and improvement is desired.

  • Demonstrated experience bringing together stakeholders with different interests to move projects and initiatives forward.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Master’s degree.

  • Demonstrated experience with project management/case management/social work.

  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating multiple initiatives while working with various constituents bringing project to a successful completion.

  • Demonstrated experience with developing written content for specific audiences (donors, foundations, students, campus partners, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience writing grants or reports intended to influence funding resources.

  • Demonstrated experience planning events or programs with multiple constrains and considerations that must be thought-through or planned.

  • Experience with spreadsheets & word processing

    Position Special Requirements/Additional Information

This position will require scheduled evening and potential weekend hours to host events and interact with students.
