Choate Construction Company Safety Manager in Atlanta, Georgia

The Safety Manager is responsible for the management, coordination and successful completion of safety requirements on their assigned project. They assume a leadership role for all staff members on site as well as subcontractor partners in leading these teams to safely construct their project and improve the workforce’s attitude towards behaving in a safe manner both on and off the job. The Safety Manager will develop and conduct site specific orientation training programs and implement those programs for all onsite staff and subcontractors. They are responsible for conducting and documenting weekly safety inspections on the project site(s).

The ultimate goal is to ensure each worker returns home safely each day.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in direct supervision of health and safety issues along with administration of programs such as Safety Training, Risk Analysis, Incident Investigations, Root Cause Analysis and OSHA related issues, including but not limited to inspections.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of construction safety and be the resource for project staff.

  • Ability to interpret and provide recommendations on implementation and compliance with federal, state, local and Company health and safety requirements.

  • Ability to utilize computer software, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.

  • Ability to speak effectively in front of a large crowd.

  • Must be willing to attend training classes. Possess the ability to transfer training as an instructor to training classes.

  • Ability to travel to assignments, including overnight or extended stays as required by circumstances.

  • Four (4) year safety/health related degree minimum five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Completion of OSHA 500. Certificate must be current within four-year time period.
