This role is hybrid with on-site expectations in Ann Arbor, MI. Domestic and international travel is required with the ability to work during early mornings, nights, and weekends. Purpose:

As the Assistant Director of our Scholars Program, you will support all co-curricular cohort-based scholar programs within the Office of Undergraduate Programs. You will help coordinate communication and engagement with all stakeholders supporting this effort. You will support coordination across admissions, centers and institutes, Ross Office of Financial Aid, and Office of Advancement incorporating Michigan's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan. You will assist admissions with identifying and recruiting prospective students, and aligning them to Scholars Program cohorts. You will report to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions within the Office of Undergraduate Programs.

Responsibilities*

  • Design programs, processes and projects associated with the relevant scholars program(s).

  • You will help identify scholarship recipients by building relationships with community-based organizations (CBOs) and other partners to become familiar with students in the application process.

  • Advise the Admissions Review Committee on potential scholars identified throughout the recruitment process.

  • Guide candidates through the UM financial aid process.

  • Coordinate financial aid to include Ross scholarship funding for selected candidates.

  • Recommend scholarship sources and amounts, with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions for specific students.

  • You will partner with faculty directors and staff on design, goals, and learning outcomes of programs.

  • Create programs for high school students as they transition into U-M and Ross.

  • Create programming and partner with other departments to provide academic success skills and to build community among students.

  • Create a community of scholars that support peers and students as they progress through their academic programs.

  • Oversee hiring of temporary and volunteer staff for all programs.

  • Grow current partnerships and seek new partnerships to build the quality of all programs.

  • Provide framework and direction for advising students in Ross Scholars programs; advise select group of students with higher-level needs, and partner with Advising teams on framework design.

  • You will deliver trainings for cohort students.

  • Refer students to other resources at Ross and U-M to continue positive trajectory and ensure connectedness to campus community.

  • Serve on student affairs and scholars programs to demonstrate Ross engagement and leadership.

  • You will be the primary contact for the Ross Office of Advancement on requests to meet with donors and provide data related to fundraising and donor reporting.

  • Track and evaluate participation through the program for continuous improvement and donor relations.

  • You will be the primary contact for external contacts for Ross Scholars, e.g., high schools, corporate partners, and other universities.

  • Partner with the Ross Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to ensure programs meet the University's strategic DEI plan.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 5+ years of related work experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working across diverse departments and units, engaging with leadership.

  • Demonstrated experience handling confidential information.

  • You are experienced in GSuite and Microsoft Office and are interested in learning new functions/applications.

Additional Information

The general posting range for this position is $68,000 - $76,000. You can expect to be paid a great compensation package. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor agreement and transparency throughout the recruiting process. Selected candidates whose start date is after April 1st will be eligible for the annual salary program in September 2025, if offered.
