The University at Albany invites applications for the position of Director of the Psychological Services Center and Clinical Assistant Professor. The Psychological Services Center is a University at Albany-run outpatient mental health care center that constitutes the training and research clinic for doctoral students in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Counseling Psychology. The Director directs and oversees Clinic operations and helps plan, develop, and maintain a comprehensive Psychological Services Center whose services are available to the community. Psychological services offered at the Center include but are not limited to: individual and group psychotherapy and counseling for children, adolescents, and adults; behavior therapy; couples counseling, family therapy; psychodiagnostic assessments; vocational testing and counseling; and consultation and training. The person in this role will ensure that Center operations and practices conform to the professional standards and ethics of the American Psychological Association and any other accrediting bodies and comply with state and federal laws concerning the delivery of health and mental health services, as well as ensure that all psychological services delivered to the public occur under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. The Director also supports the education of graduate students in Clinical and Counseling Psychology by developing practicum experiences for doctoral students in both programs. These experiences include in-service training as well as didactics such as clinical case conferences and assessment and other clinical seminars.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assume administrative responsibility for the daily operations of the Center and coordinate the administrative-governance activities of the Center.

  • Supervise graduate assistants in their clinical work and act as a clinical consultant to faculty, students, and volunteers, as needed.

  • Supervise Clinic staff and volunteers, including the Administrative and graduate assistants, work study students, and other office staff.

  • Coordinate in-service and training experiences offered at the Center; promote culturally responsive policies and training practices.

  • Seek and apply for outside sources of funding through grants and donations.

  • Assist both doctoral programs with trainee and programmatic record keeping related to reporting for internship, internal reviews, and external accreditation self-studies and reviews.

  • Build ties with local community, including increased awareness of the Center and its services; meet with appropriate university administrators, private referral sources, public and community agencies, and with organizations interested in Center programs and services.

  • Oversee the implementation of standardized and routine data collection at the Center.

  • Facilitate conduct of research at the Center by students and faculty in the Clinical and Counseling programs.

    Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program. Candidates who do not hold this degree will not be considered.

  • Applicants must demonstrate and ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.

  • Applicants must be licensed or immediately license-eligible in New York.

  • Applicants must have a record of at least one year of providing clinical supervision.

  • Applicants must have a record of relevant experience in a leadership, administrative, and/or a core supervisory role.

  • Applicants must address their ability to supervise clinical assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A record of experience overseeing finances/budget.

  • Applicants should address their ability to supervise cases across a variety of age ranges and modalities.

  • A record of experience conducting or overseeing data collection in a clinical practice context.

  • A record of collaborating/communicating/partnering with external community agencies, practicum sites or h,ealth care payors.

  • Applicants should address their ability to teach clinical/counseling area seminars (aside from supervision).

  • Applicants should address their ability to supervise vocational assessment and counseling.

  • Applicants should address their ability to seek external funding to support clinic operations.

  • Interest in and ability to teach clinical/counseling area seminars (aside from supervision).

  • Interest in vocational assessment and counseling.

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Clinical Assistant Professor (12 Month), B5; $90,000-100,000.
